A Holistic Approach to Chronic Pain
Massage & Bodywork Modalities are a way to help the body stimulate its own natural healing, and to kick start the immune system into action. This is a holistic approach to strengthening and balancing dysfunction in the body. Dysfunction can lead to chronic pain and disease. Massage and other bodywork modalities are meant to be a natural restorative to THE MIND-BODY-SPIRIT CONNECTION.
The mind, body and spirit are made of energy, which is in constant flow. Eastern thought and theories of bodywork focus on excess energy or stagnation of energy that occurs in the bodies’ organs, tissue, meridians and chakras. Dysfunction in any of these areas can affect a person’s physical, mental, emotional or spiritual state.
Breaking “The Pain-Spasm-Pain Cycle” is an important goal of bodywork. Muscles have “Muscle Memory” and will continue to repeat dysfunction, unless reminded to unwind, relax and elongate. A repeated pattern of thought or energy can be stored in the mind, body and spirit, that triggers an emotional and energetic holding pattern in the body, similar to that of the “Muscle Memory” pattern. Certain modalities of bodywork are suited to look at THE MIND-BODY-SPIRIT CONNECTION. All body modalities can achieve similar goals, or work intrinsically on certain systems to restore function to THE MIND-BODY-SPIRIT CONNECTION. It is not that one style of massage/bodywork is better than another, but for the purpose or goal of the session a person may benefit from the use of one modality over another or a combination of styles. Talking with your Certified Massage Therapist regarding the purpose of a session is necessary in order to meet each client’s individual needs.
